The Omni Loop trailer previews the time loop comedy led by Emmy winners Ayo Edebiri and Mary-Louise Parker ahead of the movie’s release on September 20 in theaters and digital.

Omni Loop follows a quantum physicist (played by Parker) who finds herself stuck in a time loop. She has a black hole growing in her chest and only a week to live. But when she meets a gifted student (Edeibiri), there’s a chance to save her life — and also potentially unlock the mysteries of time travel.

What happens in the Omni Loop trailer?

The trailer begins by providing a glimpse into Parker’s character. She’s more than a bit jaded, having lived through several loops before. She keeps waking up in the hospital, with her loved ones being told that she might only have a week left to live. Parker’s character eventually meets the gifted student, played by Edebiri. Even though Edebiri’s character is initially skeptical, she eventually comes around and is ready to try and solve time travel. The trailer also reveals the movie’s more emotional tone, with Parker looking back on her life and expressing regret.

Along with Parker, known for her leading role on the drama series Weeds, and The Bear’s Edebiri, the cast of Omni Loop includes Hannah Pearl Utt, Chris Witaske, Carlos Jacott, Harris Yulin, Steven Maier, and Eddie Cahill, who is known for his recurring role as Tag Jones on Friends.

The film is directed by Bernando Britto, who also wrote the screenplay and served as editor. Benjamin Cohen, Patrick Donovan, and David Hinojosa produced the movie. Christine Vachon, Pamela Koffler, Christine D’Souza Gelb, and Kevin Rowe, meanwhile, are executive producers.

A co-production between A 2AM and Lou Filmproduction, which was acquired by Magnolia Pictures, Omni Loop received positive reviews when it debuted at South by Southwest in March of this year.
