Eve, the stepmother, looks quite guilty as she spends time in the Bahamas with her boyfriend, Christopher — the same man who shot and killed the person who helped fish out the arm from the ocean in Episode 1.

Toward the end of the episode, Yancy comes home to find a detective from Oklahoma named Johnna Russell has come to visit him. He learns that the birth name of his girlfriend, Bonnie, who fled from the town earlier in the episode, is actually Plover Chase. She is a wanted criminal in Oklahoma for committing alleged sexual misconduct against one of her students.

If it does, whatever happened to Nick, at least some of it took place at that house. Given how interested Eve and Christopher are in Nick’s insurance money, they are the most logical suspects.
