At 11:30 pm on October 11, 1975, a ferocious troupe of young comedians and writers changed television – and culture – forever. Directed by Jason Reitman and written by Gil Kenan & Reitman, Saturday Night is based on the true story of what happened behind the scenes in the 90 minutes leading up to the first broadcast of Saturday Night Live. Full of humor, chaos, and the magic of a revolution that almost wasn’t, we count down the minutes in real time until we hear those famous words…

Saturday Night is directed by Jason Reitman, who wrote the script with Gil Kenan. Reitman comes into the film off the back of Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. Reitman, Kenan, Jason Blumenfeld, Erica Mills, and Peter Rice are producing it.

The cast includes Gabriel LaBelle as Lorne Michaels, Cooper Hoffman as Dick Ebersol, Rachel Sennott as Rosie Shuster, Dylan O’Brien as Dan Aykroyd, Lamorne Morris as Garrett Morris, Cory Michael Smith as Chevy Chase, Ella Hunt as Gilda Radner, Emily Fairn as Laraine Newman, Kim Matula as Jane Curtin, Matt Wood as John Belushi, Nicholas Braun as Jim Henson, Matthew Rhys as George Carlin, J.K. Simmons as Milton Berle, Willem Dafoe as David Tebet, Tommy Dewey as Michael O’Donoghue, Finn Wolfhard as an NBC page, and more.

Saturday Night Live will celebrate its 50th anniversary next year. The variety comedy show has birthed all manner of stars over the years, including Dan Aykroyd, Chevy Chase, Tina Fey, Chris Farley, Martin Short, Kristen Wiig, Andy Samberg, Bill Hader, Mike Myers, Bill Murray, John Belushi, Will Ferrell, Jason Sudeikis, and Amy Poehler.

Saturday Night is exclusively in theaters on October 11, 2024, from Sony Pictures Entertainment. The October 11 date coincides with the original air date for the first-ever episode of SNL back in 1975.

Neil became a horror fan from just a nightmare-inducing glimpse of the Ghoulies VHS cover and a book on how to draw ghosts. It escalated from there and now that's almost all he writes and talks about.
