Information on Star Wars Eclipse has been sparse since it was revealed a few years back. Unfortunately, the latest update for Quantic Dream‘s adventure in a galaxy far, far away sees the Star Wars Eclipse Lead Writer leave the studio.

Why did Star Wars Eclipse Lead Writer leave Quantic Dream?

Star Wars Eclipse Lead Writer Adam Williams released a statement on LinkedIn announcing his departure from Quantic Dream.

“After almost 10 years at Quantic Dream, I am leaving to found a new studio — together with a group of very talented designers and developers,” says Williams. “We can’t say too much yet. We are working on something very innovative, very special and, for now, very secret.”

He finished his statement thanking Quantic Dream, as well as his team at his unannounced studio.

Williams was also the Lead Writer for the 2018 sci-fi action-adventure game Detroit: Become Human.

Star Wars Eclipse was originally revealed at The Game Awards in 2021 alongside a trailer. Like previous Quantic Dream games, it will feature a branching narrative between multiple characters, and is set during the High Republic era.

The official Star Wars Eclipse website says the game features “an ensemble cast of multiple, charismatic playable characters, each with their own morality, personality, motivations, and impact up each other and the story at large.” The site also states there will be new characters and environments. As previously reported, one of the main protagonists will be Sarah of the Zaraan, a race not previously seen in any Star Wars lore.

Quantic Dream is a France-based studio founded in 1997. The developer has released five games including Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls, and Detroit: Become Human. Quantic Dream publishes games as well under the Spotlight banner. Its most recent published game will be Dustborn when it launches on August 20, 2024.

Star Wars Eclipse does not have a release date. Platforms for the game are also unknown.
