HBO Max Schedule August 19-25 2024: New TV Shows & Movies Being Added

HBO Max’s new TV and movie releases for August 19-25, 2024 include City of God: The Fight Rages On and The Thaw Season 2.

On August 23, Friday, HBO Max viewers can tune into the platform to check out the second season of The Thaw, aka Odwilz. Set in Szczecin, Poland, the Polish series follows the mystery of a young dead woman found under melting ice and the questions she has left in the wake of her death.

Then, on August 25, Sunday, City of God: The Fight Rages On Season 1 drops on HBO Max. This series is set 20 years after the events of the movie, City of God, and follows an adult Wilson “Rocket” Rodrigues, who is now achieving his dreams of becoming a photojournalist. He returns to the favela he grew up in to document the tensions between drug dealers, politicians, militia men, and police officers.

Also releasing on HBO Max this week is Serengeti III.

Serengeti III is the third installment of the Serengeti documentary series created by Simon Fuller and John Downer. This third installment follows animals living in the Serengeti corners of Africa, as they navigate a constantly changing landscape and difficult situations like drought, fires, and torrential rains.
