A modern Salem’s Lot reimagining is officially happening. After overcoming delays, the first-look images for Gary Dauberman’s Stephen King adaptation have finally been unveiled.

Dauberman’s Salem’s Lot was originally scheduled for a 2022 theatrical release, but was later moved to 2023 after New Line and Warner Bros. merged with Discovery Inc. However, considering the unfortunate fates of Batgirl and Coyote vs Acme, a new Salem’s Lot adaptation has been close to impossible.

Fortunately, unlike the mentioned shelved features, it was announced earlier this year that the movie will be gracing HBO Max in October 2024. You can check out the first-look photos down below:

    What is Salem’s Lot about?

Based on King’s 1975 novel of the same name, Salem’s Lot — directed and written by renowned horror scribe Dauberman — revolves around a writer’s return to his childhood home, which has been plagued by the presence of a frightening vampire. This prompts him to join forces with a group of people in order to defeat the ancient evil.

“Author Ben Mears returns to his childhood home of Jerusalem’s Lot in search of inspiration for his next book only to discover his hometown is being preyed upon by a bloodthirsty vampire,” the logline reads.

The latest Salem’s Lot remake stars Lewis Pullman (Outer Range) as Ben Mears, Alfre Woodard (Summer Camp) as Dr. Cody, Makenzie Leigh (The Assistant) as Susan Norton, Bill Camp (Presumed Innocent) as Matthew Burke, Spencer Treat Clark (The Last House on the Left) as Mike Ryerson, Pilou Asbæk (Borgen) as Straker, and John Benjamin Hickey (Sublet) as Father Callahan.

Dauberman also executive produced the film alongside Michael Bederman, Andrew Childs, and Judson Scott. It is produced by James Wan, Michael Clear, Roy Lee, and Mark Wolper.

Salem’s Lot will premiere on Max in October 2024.
