Megalopolis Trailer Previews Francis Ford Coppola’s Roman Epic Starring Adam Driver

A new Megalopolis trailer has been released for the forthcoming Roman Epic directed and written by Francis Ford Coppola. Having been acquired by Lionsgate Studios in June 2024, the movie will be released in United States theaters this coming September.

What is Megalopolis about?

“Megalopolis is a Roman Epic set in an imagined Modern America,” the official synopsis reads. “The City of New Rome must change, causing conflict between Cesar Catilina, a genius artist who seeks to leap into a utopian, idealistic future, and his opposition, Mayor Franklyn Cicero, who remains committed to a regressive status quo, perpetuating greed, special interests, and partisan warfare. Torn between them is socialite Julia Cicero, the mayor’s daughter, whose love for Cesar has divided her loyalties, forcing her to discover what she truly believes humanity deserves.”

The cast of the movie includes Adam Driver, Giancarlo Esposito, Nathalie Emmanuel, Aubrey Plaza, Shia LaBeouf, Jon Voight, Laurence Fishburne, Kathryn Hunter, and Dustin Hoffman.

Coppola produces the film alongside Barry Hirsch, Fred Roos, and Michael Bederman.

Coppola — who is known for making all three movies in the Godfather trilogy, along with 1979’s Apocalypse Now, 1992’s Bram Stoker’s Dracula, and more — spent around $120 million of his own money to fund the film. It premiered at the 77th Cannes Film Festival in May 2024.

Megalopolis will be released in United States theaters on September 27, 2024, from Lionsgate Studios.
