    The South Korean survival social reality show The Influencer announced OKING as the season 1 winner. The final episode aired on Netflix on August 13, 2024. The prize money for the show’s ultimate winner was KRW 300 million. However, as reported by SBS Entertainment News , OKING would not receive the prize money as he failed to maintain confidentiality regarding his appearance on the show.

    On August 21, Netflix announced the same to the local news outlet. The streaming platform stated that they would not give the winner OKING the prize money as he disclosed the news of his winning in The Influencer to an external party before the finale episode aired.

    As mentioned above, Netflix told a local news outlet that The Influencer’s winner, OKING , did not receive the cash prize worth KRW 300 million. They have further explained why they would not pay the YouTuber and streamer the prize money.

    The streaming platform stated that it took action to ensure fairness among all the participants and to maintain the reliability of the show, per SBS Entertainment News. Netflix stated, “The prize money will not be paid to the winner of ‘The Influencer’ who violated the duty of confidentiality in the appearance contract.”

    They further emphasized that maintaining secrecy about the information associated with the show before its release is extremely vital. It helps ensure that the hard work and efforts of all the participants in the show will successfully generate the desired outcome and convey the purpose and fun elements of the show to audiences.

    Netflix continued, “It is also a promise between all the production staff and the cast who wish for the success of the work.” However, they have not mentioned any details regarding the penalty for the violation.
