The Batman Part II recently received an exciting update from screenwriter Mattson Tomlin. In an interview, Tomlin discussed when the film will shoot and how director Matt Reeves continues to raise expectations for the sequel.

“It’s shooting next year. We’re gearing up, and I will say that the bar just couldn’t be higher. It’s the sequel to the first one,” Tomlin told Screen Rant.

“But also, Matt [Reeves] is like no other. In the five years now that I’ve been working with him as closely as I have, I’ve tried to absorb as much as humanly possible from him, and I’m so grateful for the time that I get to spend with him, because he is a true artist who is operating in a world where sometimes art doesn’t get to flourish, and he’s trying to make something that really matters. So to be able to just be on the ride and be part of that process, it’s pretty unbelievable, pretty tremendous. I’m psyched for the movie.”

What to Expect in The Batman Part II?

Much of the plot details in The Batman Part II are under wraps. Filming is scheduled to begin in England in 2025.

Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman is the only confirmed cast member returning for The Batman Part II. In The Batman, Bruce fights to end corruption in his second year as the masked vigilante. As criminal empires rise, a serial killer known as The Riddler becomes Batman’s toughest challenge yet.

Besides Pattinson, The Batman starred Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Paul Dano as The Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as GCPD’s James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gotham D.A. Gil Colson, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Ferrell as Oswald “Oz” Cobblepot/ Penguin.

Released in March 2022, The Batman grossed over $772 million on a budget between $185 and $200 million. The Penguin, a spinoff series starring Ferrell’s Oz, premieres September 19, 2024.

The Batman Part II is set to be released on October 2, 2026.
