Former WWE Champion CM Punk, who had one of the best rivalries with John Cena, has recently shared his plans. John Cena, a 16-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion, announced his retirement at Money in the Bank 2024 in July.

Cena revealed that he will retire from WWE in-ring competition in 2025. He will begin a year-long farewell tour, starting with the historic first episode of RAW on Netflix in January 2025. Fans will have the chance to see him compete in the Royal Rumble and Elimination Chamber and at WrestleMania 41. He plans to wrestle throughout 2025, making 30–40 appearances from January to December.

Following the announcement, fans began speculating about whom they would like to see Cena wrestle for the last time. Many fans expect Cena to face Randy Orton, Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, The Rock, and CM Punk, with whom the former has a significant history. While fans are eager to see Cena and Punk face off one more time, Punk has shared his thoughts on what he would like to do with Cena during his retirement tour.

CM Punk wants to tag team with John Cena

Former WWE Champion CM Punk and John Cena have provided fans with numerous memorable moments, from their standout matches to their iconic bout at Money in the Bank 2011. Their rivalry is considered one of the greatest in WWE history. Recently, at Fanatics Fest NYC, Punk discussed the possibility of facing his old rival John Cena again. He expressed a preference for teaming up with Cena in a tag team match.

He stated, “John can do whatever John wants to when he comes back. I, selfishly, would like to tag with him. This is John’s story. He has earned the right to come back and do whatever. He can put his dirty feet on the couch, get mud all over the couch, do whatever he wants. If I fit in to whatever he wants to do, then I’ll be grateful.”

As John Cena prepares to begin his retirement tour in a few months, it will be interesting to see what role CM Punk will play in this scenario.
