John Goodman, Jesse Plemons, & More Cast in Alejandro G. Iñárritu Movie With Tom Cruise

John Goodman, Jesse Plemons, and more have joined the cast of Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s new movie.

Iñárritu is known for making movies such as 2014’s Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) and 2015’s The Revenant. In February 2024, it was revealed that his next, still untitled film will star Tom Cruise.

Now, per Deadline, has added a number of new stars to the cast.

Who is starring in the new Alejandro G. Iñárritu movie?

Along with Goodman and Plemons, the movie will star Sandra Hüller, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Sophie Wilde. Riz Ahmed is additionally in “final negotiations” to star in the film.

According to Deadline, the movie “centers on the most powerful man in the world, who embarks on a frantic mission to prove he is humanity’s savior before the disaster he’s unleashed destroys everything.”

Further plot details remain under wraps at this time. Iñárritu co-wrote the screenplay with Sabina Berman, Alexander Dinelaris, and Nicolas Giacobone.

Goodman is known for playing Dan Conner in Roseanne and The Conners. His filmography includes titles such as 1991’s Barton Fink, 1994’s The Flintstones, 2001’s Monsters, Inc., 2008’s Speed Racer, 2016’s 10 Cloverfield Lane, and many more.

Plemons was most recently seen in 2024’s Kinds of Kindness. He also played Todd in Breaking Bad and can be seen in 2018’s Game Night, 2019’s The Irishman, 2021’s The Power of the Dog, 2023’s Killers of the Flower Moon, and 2024’s Civil War.

Hüller was nominated for Best Actress at the Academy Awards for her performance in 2023’s Anatomy of a Fall. She also starred in 2023’s The Zone of Interest and is now filming Project Hail Mary alongside Ryan Gosling.

Wilde had her breakout feature film debut in 2022’s Talk to Me and is now starring in a Watch Dogs movie, while Stuhlbarg is known for his performances in movies such as 2015’s Steve Jobs, 2016’s Doctor Strange, 2017’s Call Me by Your Name, 2017’s The Shape of Water, 2022’s Bones and All, and 2024’s The Instigators.

Ahmed, meanwhile, received a Best Actor Academy Award nomination for 2019’s Sound of Metal. He can also be seen in films such as 2010’s Four Lions, 2014’s Nightcrawler, 2016’s Jason Bourne, 2016’s Rogue One, 2018’s Venom, and more.

A release date for Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s new movie has not yet been set.
