Director R. Ajay Gnanamuthu Announces Demonte Colony 3

Demonte Colony 2, which was released in theaters on August 15, 2024, has garnered mostly positive reviews. A sequel to the 2015 hit Demonte Colony, the film has successfully retained the essence of the original. The film’s director, R. Ajay Gnanamuthu, recently announced plans to continue the story, heightening the audience’s curiosity about what will unfold next.

Gnanamuthu announced Demonte Colony 2 in 2022, and after two years of development, the film finally made its way to theaters. The sequel stars Arulnithi in dual roles and has a supporting cast that includes Priya Bhavani, Archana Ravichandran, Arun Pandian, and others.

The plot centers around a group of friends who venture into the cursed location. They are driven by a curiosity to uncover the cryptic messages that the strange spirit has conveyed. As they delve deeper, they face terrifying revelations that test their courage and sanity.

When will Demonte Colony 3 be released in theaters?

During the film’s paid premiere, director R. Ajay Gnanamuthu shared that the Demonte Colony franchise will comprise of two more installments. He stated, “Demonte Colony 2 was a major hit in Tamil, and we hope it will be well received by the Telugu audience as well. We are also planning to make Parts 3 and 4, with all the cast members from Part 2 continuing in the subsequent installments.”

In other words, the director revealed that the scripts for both upcoming parts are already complete. Consequently, filming is set to begin by mid-2025, with an aim for a 2026 release.

Regarding Demonte Colony 2’s box office performance, the film garnered approximately $423,156 on its opening day, reported industry tracker Sacnilk. This brings its overall box office collection to $3.3 million in India’s net collection to date. Overall, it will be interesting to see how much the film earns by the end of its theatrical run.
