A newly released trailer for the upcoming Superman: Legacy has ignited speculation among fans regarding its authenticity. Set for a July 2025 release through Warner Bros. Pictures, the film will feature David Corenswet . The narrative will delve into Superman’s journey as he grapples with his dual identity, balancing his Kryptonian heritage with his upbringing in Smallville, Kansas. As anticipation for the film grows, fans are eager to determine whether the leaked trailer is genuine or a carefully crafted fan-made creation.

Here’s everything you need to know about the legitimacy of the Superman Legacy trailer.

Is the trailer for James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy real or fake?

The trailer for Superman Legacy that just popped up online is a fake, AI-generated fan-made.

The internet buzzed with excitement on August 11, 2024, when the popular fan-made trailer channel, Cinematic Kingdom, dropped a sneak peek of the upcoming film, Superman: Legacy. As of now, the trailer has racked up over 150,000 views and 2,200 likes, showcasing the eager anticipation for the movie.

Additionally, the trailer incorporates archival footage, AI-generated images, a remixed theme from DC Universe’s Superman, elements from the Lois television series, and extensive CGI editing. This combination complicates the viewers’ ability to distinguish between what’s real and what’s not.

Another reason fans may have thought it to be real is because recently a trailer for Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story is set to officially release in theaters by September 21, 2024. This might have created confusion among the viewers about the trailer of the film. However, up till today, there hasn’t been an official trailer for the film by Warner Brothers. The above Superman Legacy trailer is factually a fake one.

The big surprise here is that James Gunn just revealed that what was once called Superman: Legacy is now simply ‘Superman’. This change makes a lot of sense as it signals a fresh start for the DC Universe. By dropping the Legacy part, it avoids any confusion about it being a sequel or connected to the previous DCEU films. This title shift highlights a new direction, aiming to fix previous issues and embrace a more hopeful outlook, as per ScreenRant .
