The first trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 3 has been released.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 arrives in United States theaters this December. The new film will see Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles have to face a new adversary, Shadow the Hedgehog, who is being voiced by Keanu Reeves.

What else do we know about Sonic the Hedgehog 3?

Along with Reeves, the voice cast of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 includes Ben Schwartz as Sonic, Colleen O’Shaughnessey as Miles ‘Tails” Prower, and Idris Elba as Knuckles the Echidna.

Jim Carrey is also reprising his role as Dr. Ivo Robotnik, while the movie also stars James Marsden as Tom Wachowski, Tika Sumpter as Maddie Wachoswki, Natasha Rothwell as Rachel, Shemar Moore as Randall Handel, Lee Majdoub as Agent Stone, Tom Butler as Commander Walters, and Alyla Browne as Maria.

Krysten Ritter, Sofia Pernas, Cristo Fernández, James Wolk, and Jorma Taccone round out the cast.

“I can tell you that it’s super exciting. I can tell you that it really does get deeper into the universe of Sonic,” Elba previously said of the movie, via Collider. “I think 3’s probably the one for all the real diehard Sonic fans. They’re gonna get all of those Easter eggs in it. Jim [Carrey] is incredible, man. What a performance. It’s so great to work against, even though I’m never there with him, but I get to hear his voice. Bomb.”

The movie is directed by Jeff Fowler, who also directed the first two films in the franchise: 2020’s Sonic the Hedgehog and 2022’s Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Fowler also directed the pilot episode of the Knuckles spin-off series and served as an executive producer on the show.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 will be released in United States theaters on December 20, 2024, from Paramount Pictures.
