The Fantastic Four: First Steps Set Photo Shows First Look at MCU’s The Thing

While not too much is known about the upcoming movie, a new batch of The Fantastic Four: First Steps set photos have appeared online, giving fans their first look at The Thing.

In footage shared to social media by various fans, a video of someone filming down onto production of the upcoming movie can be seen. In the footage, a group of crew members are dressing up an actor inside of a giant The Thing suit, complete with a practical, accurate looking head for the character.

It’s unclear whether or not The Thing will be fully practical in The Fantastic Four: The First Steps, or if the suit is just being as a stand-in. Ebon Moss-Bachrach, who is playing Ben Grimm/The Thing in the film, had previously said that the performance would be fully “performance capture” based instead of an actual suit .

Who is in The Fantastic Four: First Steps?

The film will feature Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/ Human Torch, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing, Julia Garner (Ozark) as a “Shalla-Bal version” of the Silver Surfer, and Ralph Ineson (Harry Potter) as Galactus, along with John Malkovich (Places in the Heart), Paul Walter Hauser (Black Bird), and Natasha Lyonne (The Russian Doll) in undisclosed roles.

The titular team was announced through a Valentine’s Day poster, which seemingly hinted that the story might take place in the 1960s. Previous key art also teased the appearance of the team’s trustee robot H.E.R.B.I.E.

Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four arrives in theaters on July 25, 2025, as part of the MCU’s Phase 6.
