Peter Dinklage on if The Toxic Avenger Is Ever Getting Released: ‘Write to Your Congressmen’

Peter Dinklage isn’t sure when the new Toxic Avenger movie will be released.

In November 2020, Dinklage signed on to star in a new Toxic Avenger movie. The movie was filmed in 2021 and then was screened at Fantastic Fest in September 2023. While the movie was also shown at Beyond Fest the same September, there’s been little to no word about a wider release since then.

Speaking with Collider, Dinklage said he wasn’t sure what the plans are for the movie’s release.

What did Peter Dinklage say about the new Toxic Avenger movie’s release?

“I’m in the dark just like you, man,” Dinklage said. “My friend Macon Blair, the writer-director of Toxic Avenger also plays Malachai in The Thicket. I love working with that man, I would do every movie with him if I could. But fingers crossed, it’ll see cinemas soon.”

Dinklage jokingly said that Toxic Avenger fans could “write to your congressmen” in order to get the movie released. He added, “I don’t know what you do in this situation.”

Along with Dinklage, The Toxic Avenger — which will be the fifth installment in the film franchise following 1984’s The Toxic Avenger, 1989’s The Toxic Avenger Part II, 1989’s The Toxic Avenger Part III: The Last Temptation of Toxie, and 2000’s Citizen Toxie: The Toxic Avenger IV — stars Jacob Tremblay, Taylour Paige, Kevin Bacon, Sarah Niles, Elijah Wood, Blair, Jane Levy, and more.

“The Toxic Avenger follows struggling everyman-janitor Winston Gooze, who is transformed by a horrible toxic accident into a new evolution of hero: The Toxic Avenger! Now with super-human strength and wielding a glowing mop for his unconventional weapon, he must race against time to save his son and stop a ruthless and power-hungry corporate tyrant bent on harnessing toxic superpowers to strengthen his polluted empire,” the synopsis reads.

The Toxic Avenger does not have a release date at this time.
