Vinnie Pasquantino is an American professional baseball player currently playing for the Kansas City Royals in MLB. He serves as the team’s first baseman and designated hitter. Recently, in the Royals’ match against the Houston Astros, Vinnie Pasquantino suffered an injury that forced him to exit late in the game.

Here’s what happened to Vinnie Pasquantino and when he might return to play.

How did Vinnie Pasquantino get injured while playing baseball?

Vinnie Pasquantino sustained an injury to his hand while trying to catch the ball at first base.

After a pitch from KC’s Lucas Erceg in the bottom of the eighth inning, a ground ball was hit toward Pasquantino. He attempted to field it with his throwing hand, but the ball rolled away. Erceg picked it up and threw it to Pasquantino at first base. Pasquantino’s hand got caught as he tried to catch the throw, with Astros’ Yainer Diaz running toward him.

This incident led to both Erceg and Pasquantino injuring their hands. Manager Matt Quatraro checked on Pasquantino before he exited the field. According to The Kansas City Star, Quatraro said, “They’re still out getting tested. They’re getting X-rays on their hands, so we don’t have much to say yet.” Following the incident, the Astros scored four runs in the eighth, with Mauricio Dubon hitting a two-run single against John Schreiber, who replaced Erceg.

When will Vinnie Pasquantino return to play with the Kansas City Royals?

Currently, there is no official confirmation on when Vinnie Pasquantino will return to play.

Pasquantino injured his hand while trying to catch a wild throw from Erceg at first base, leading to his immediate exit from the game in the eighth inning.

As reported by The Kansas City Star, when asked about Pasquantino’s return, Quatraro said, “I can’t say for sure because he is still over there getting X-rays. All I know is he said it was hurting him, so we took him out.” Therefore, his return timeline remains uncertain until the team reviews the test results.
