A Wolf Creek reboot is officially in the works, with John Jarratt set to return as Outback murderer Mick Taylor.

Almost two decades after the first Wolf Creek movie graced Australian cinemas, a third Wolf Creek film is officially on the way. The Wolf Creek franchise creator Greg Mclean is also set to return as the third installment’s producer.

What is the Wolf Creek reboot’s title?

The planned reboot will be called Wolf Creek: Legacy. Resident Evil producer Jeremy Bolt is said to be on board for the project, with Wolf Creek 2 editor Sean Lahiff set to direct. Bianca Martino and The Babadook’s Kristian Moliere are the additional producers, with Cory Todd Hughes and Adrian Speckert joining the project as executive producers.

It Chapter Two and Scrublands actor Jay Ryan has joined the cast, with the creatives behind the third film still on the hunt for additional cast members.

The first Wolf Creek film was released in 2005 and starred Cassandra Magrath, Kestie Morassi, and Nathan Phillips. It then spawned a sequel in 2013, titled Wolf Creek 2, starring Ryan Corr (Holding the Man). Wolf Creek also received a television spin-off, which ran for two seasons from 2016 to 2017.

Jarratt has played serial killer Mick Taylor in all Wolf Creek installments, including the television series.

Per the synopsis, Wolf Creek: Legacy will follow “a family of American tourists who wander innocently into Taylor’s hunting grounds. When the parents sacrifice themselves to save their children, the kids find themselves alone, lost and hunted in the vast Australian wilderness. Will this fresh prey – two wily, resourceful Zoomers – prove harder for the ageing predator to consume?”

“This new chapter in the Wolf Creek saga is something I’m incredibly excited about: it’s a bold new story that honors the roots of the franchise while pushing it into new, uncharted territory,” Mclean said in a statement.
