Serena Williams, who won 23 Grand Slam women’s singles titles and is inarguably one of the greats of Tennis, has been on the receiving end of speculations about purported cosmetic surgeries and enhancements for years. However, it seems she has finally decided to respond to it. This comes after recent rumors claimed that she used drugs or underwent surgery to lose weight following the birth of her daughter Adira River Ohanian in August 2023.

Here is what Williams said in response to the criticism of her appearance.

Serena Williams responds to criticism of her appearance

Williams has been facing accusations that she has undergone rhinoplasty and surgeries for cheekbone implants and skin lightening, with recent rumors claiming she shed weight through surgery. Now, in a recent Instagram post, the tennis star addressed these allegations in simple and direct words.

The post features multiple photos of Williams in denim. In the caption, she wrote, “100% real … forehead to toe … lol,” seemingly making it clear that she has not undergone any procedure that could have altered her appearance.

The 42-year-old tennis icon started her professional career in October 1995 and concluded it in September 2022. During her career, she was one of the most dominating players in the game and won almost everything that tennis had to offer. She held the no. 1 spot in women’s tennis for an astounding 319 weeks, out of which 186 were consecutive.

Further, teaming up with her sister Venus Williams, Serena Williams won several major women’s doubles titles, including three Olympic gold medals. Williams was also the gold-medal winner in the women’s singles event at the 2012 London Olympics. She completed a Career Golden Slam in both singles and doubles and is the only player in history to do so.

Although Williams has offered the above-mentioned clarification, it is important to acknowledge that undergoing such procedures is a personal choice and should not be subject to scrutiny.
