The reason behind Abby murdering Merrit was her and her husband Thomas’s financial crisis, especially during Abby’s pregnancy. To make matters worse, Thomas owed $2.5 million to Isabel with whom he was having an affair. The couple put their hopes from Tag’s will which was meant to be divided among his three sons. However, the condition was that they could only inherit the wealth after the youngest child turned 18, which was about to happen a few weeks after the wedding.
