The creator of the show has made the decision to end the show with the finale of the second season. In June, Netflix released the trailer of the second season of Arcane on their official X (formally Twitter) account and captioned it as the final chapter.

This decision was met with backlash from fans who expected to see more of what Jinx and Vi had to offer.

Christian Linke, the co-creator of the series, addressed this during a League Dev Update, that went live on Tuesday. He said, “Arcane’ is just the beginning of our larger storytelling journey and partnership with the wonderful animation studio that is Fortiche. From the very beginning, since we started working on this project, we had a very specific ending in mind, which means the story of ‘Arcane’ wraps up with this second season. But ‘Arcane’ is just the first of many stories that we want to tell in Runeterra.” (via The Wrap)
