The Dallas Cowboys experienced a flying start to the new NFL season after they defeated the Cleveland Browns 17-33. The NFC East Division outfit dominated for the majority of the game, notching three touchdowns and four field goals. However, the Cowboys also suffered a setback in Jake Ferguson’s injury. But what happened to the NFL newbie?

Here are all the available details regarding the American tight end’s recent injury.

Has Jake Ferguson suffered an injury while playing football?

While Jake Ferguson did sustain a blow during the Cowboys’ recent game against the Browns, the extent of his injury is currently unknown.

The 25-year-old footballer was at the receiving end of a crushing tackle in the third quarter, which ultimately caused him to leave the field. He was initially expected to make a late comeback but ended up sitting out the remainder of the game. Following his exit, Ferguson was believed to have suffered from a torn ACL.

Nevertheless, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport soon debunked the theory by stating the positive outcome of the initial medical assessments. Patrik Walker, a Dallas Cowboys representative, also revealed that Jake Ferguson departed from his locker room without crutches or a brace despite his injury. Instead, the tight end was spotted leaving with only an ice pack strapped to his left knee. Ferguson’s teammate, Dan Prescott, also sported a composed stance while talking about his condition, as per Bleacher Report. “I think we dodged a big one,” the quarterback said. “Talking to him, he gave me a lot of confidence that he’ll be OK.”

The South Dakota-born sportsman is set to undergo an MRI to gain further clarity on his state. As such, it is difficult to estimate when Ferguson will be on the field again. In his absence, head coach Mike McCarthy is expected to rely on Luke Schoonmaker’s services for the tight end spot.
