Michael B. Jordan is directing and starring in a remake of The Thomas Crown Affair.

Released in 1968, The Thomas Crown Affair is a heist movie starring Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway. The movie, directed by Norman Jewison, was nominated for two Academy Awards, including Best Original Score and Best Song, the latter of which it won.

The movie was remade in 1999 by John McTiernan. This version starred Pierce Brosnan, Rene Russo, and Denis Leary.

Now, per Deadline, Michael B. Jordan has signed on to direct another version of The Thomas Crown Affair for Amazon MGM Studios. Jordan will also star in the movie and serve as a producer via his Outlier Society banner alongside Elizabeth Raposo.

“The next priority is to find his co-star to steam up the screen with; given what the previous roles did for their respective female leads, the part is sure to draw the attention of many A-listers in town,” Deadline’s article notes.

Plot details remain under wraps at this time.

What else do we know about the new Thomas Crown Affair movie?

The script for the movie was written by Drew Pearce, while Wes Tooke and Justin Britt-Gibson worked on previous drafts. Patrick McCormick and Marc Toberoff also serve as producers, while Alan Trustman, who wrote the 1968 film, serves as an executive producer.

“An adventure of a millionaire playboy who steals a priceless work of art and then strikes up a fiery romance with the brilliant female insurance investigator who is on to his game,” a description of the 1999 movie reads.

Jordan made his feature film directorial debut in 2023 with Creed III, which he also starred in. He recently finished shooting Ryan Coogler’s new gothic horror movie, which is expected to be released in 2025 and also stars Delroy Lindo, Jack O’Connell, Wunmi Mosaku, Jayme Lawson, Omar Benson Miller, Hailee Steinfeld, and more.
