Former WWE Tag Team Champion Matt Riddle recently discussed the possibility of returning to the promotion. After being released from UFC, Riddle transitioned to professional wrestling in 2014. He swiftly made a name for himself on the independent circuit and signed with WWE in 2018.

Riddle quickly climbed the ranks in the NXT division and debuted on the main roster in 2020, defeating AJ Styles in his debut match on WWE SmackDown. He also won the singles gold by defeating Bobby Lashley and John Morrison to capture the United States Championship. In fact, Riddle’s career took a significant turn when he teamed up with Randy Orton.

Despite achieving significant success in WWE, Matt Riddle’s career has been harmed by controversies. He faced backstage issues with Goldberg and Brock Lesnar. Riddle also had sexual assault allegations and failed drug tests to his name.

WWE suspended Riddle twice, with the second suspension in 2022 due to a failed drug test. His final downfall occurred after a drunken incident at a New York airport in 2023, which led to his release.

Currently wrestling on the independent scene. Riddle has been away from WWE for a year. However, he recently expressed optimism about a return. He pointed to CM Punk’s comeback as proof that anything can be forgiven.

Matt Riddle confident about WWE return: “Chances are extremely high”

The former WWE Superstar recently spoke with Sports Illustrated about his probable return to WWE. He expressed strong optimism about his chances of making a comeback. He stated “The chances of me going back, I think they’re extremely high. If CM Punk, who filed a lawsuit against WWE, and then raked them through the mud for a decade, then goes to the competition, I’ll tell you this, if he can do that, everything can be forgiven.”

He continued, “I know I wasn’t the easiest to work with at times, [and] I think the door is always open. I think the longer I’m away, the harder I work, and the more I do, the more likely I could come back. But I’ll also say this, if I never go back ever again, and they never talk to me again, I’ll be ok with that.”

It will be interesting to see whether Riddle, who was one of the popular stars in WWE, will make a return. Only time will tell.
