Twilight of the Gods Trailer Previews Zack Snyder’s Animated Netflix Series

A new trailer for Zack Snyder’s animated Netflix series Twilight of the Gods has been released.

Co-created by Snyder, Jay Olivia, and Eric Carrasco, Twilight of the Gods is a new animated series about Norse mythology. The show will be streaming on Netflix later this month.

What happens in the Twilight of the Gods trailer?

The trailer introduces viewers to Leif and Sigrid, two warriors who fall in love and decide to get married despite knowing that their wedding will anger the gods. Thor then attacks and wipes out a number of their loved ones, causing Sigrid and Leif to recruit Loki for help as they go on a revenge mission against the god of thunder.

“Zack Snyder presents Twilight of the Gods, an all-new daring and spectacular animated vision of Norse mythology,” the official synopsis for the series reads. “In a mythical world of great battles, great deeds, and great despair, Leif, a mortal King, is saved on the battlefield by Sigrid, an iron-willed warrior with whom he falls in love. On their wedding night, Sigrid and Leif survive a wrath of terror from Thor, which sets them – and a crew of crusaders – on an against-all-odds and merciless mission for vengeance. This heroic story of love, loss, and revenge, is a journey to Hell and beyond…across fantastical lands, battlefields fierce and bloody, and wars waged against Gods and demons.”

The series voice cast includes Sylvia Hoeks as Sigrid, Stuart Martin as Leif, Rahul Kohli as Egill, Paterson Joseph as Loki, Jamie Clayton as Seid-Kona, Pilou Asbæk as Thor, Birgitte Hjort Sørensen as Hervor, Kristofer Hivju as Andvari, Thea Sofie Loch Næss as Thyra, John Noble as Odin, and Peter Stormare as Ulfr.

In addition to co-creating the series, Snyder directed the first and final episodes of Twilight of the Gods. He also serves as an executive producer alongside Deborah Snyder, Wesley Coller, and Olivia. Olivia, Andrew Tamandl, Tim Divar, and Dave Hartman also direct episodes, while the animation house is Xilam Animation.

All eight episodes of Twilight of the Gods will be released on Netflix on September 19, 2024.
