Football fans are asking about the latest Marquise “Hollywood” Brown injury update, but sadly the news isn’t great. The wide receiver for the Kansas City Chiefs sustained a shoulder dislocation after catching a pass during a game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on August 10. Hollywood Brown was originally scheduled to return within the month, but it looks like it’s going to take much longer for him to heal. Here’s what we know so far about how long Marquise Browne will be out for the regular 2024 NFL season and when he might be coming back.

How long will Hollywood Brown be out?

Hollywood Brown will be out for at least the next four games, which means the earliest we might see him return is October 20 against the San Francisco 49ers. That’s if we’re being optimistic about his recovery.

This four-game delay, as reported by ESPN, is due to Brown being scheduled for surgery for his sternoclavicular injury. This refers to the sternoclavicular joint that links the sternum (or breastbone) and the clavicle (or collarbone), and it’s the only joint that connects the arm to the body. As a result of the surgery, Brown will be placed on injured reserve.

The need for surgery comes as a surprise, since Chiefs head coach Andy Reid stated on August 12 that Brown wouldn’t need one in a statement to the NFL.

In a one-year deal, the 27-year-old wide receiver joined the Chiefs in March, giving quarterback Patrick Mahomes more opportunities on the field.

These past few weeks have not been kind to many NFL players who have sustained various injuries. This includes Buffalo Bills linebacker Terrel Bernard, Buffalo Bills’ Taron Johnson, Green Bay Packers’ Josh Jacobs, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Bryce Hall. Tua Tagovailoa also sustained yet another concussion that left him on the field for several minutes.

As for the Kansas City Chiefs, Rashee Rice has not been suspended yet despite him being involved in a multi-car accident.
