Never Let Go Reactions Call Horror Movie ‘Brutal’ & ‘Brilliant,’ Praise Halle Berry

The first reactions to Never Let Go call the horror movie directed by Crawl’s Alexandre Aja starring Halle Berry “brilliant,” “brutal,” “disturbing,” and more.

Never Let Go will be released in United States theaters on September 20, 2024, from Lionsgate. Along with Berry, the movie stars Percy Daggs IV and Anthony B. Jenkins.

“In this new psychological thriller/horror, as an evil takes over the world beyond their front doorstep, the only protection for a mother, played by Academy Award winner Halle Berry (Actress in a Leading Role, 2001 – Monster’s Ball), and her twin sons is their house and their family’s protective bond,” the synopsis reads. Needing to stay connected at all times – even tethering themselves with ropes – they cling to one another, urging each other to never let go. But when one of the boys questions if the evil is real, the ties that bind them together are severed, triggering a terrifying fight for survival.”

Creepy Kingdom founder James H. Carter II wrote on X, “ It was dark, bleak, and disturbing, with incredible performances, and a haunting score! Masterful filmmaking and is destined to become a horror classic.”

Nightmarish Conjurings founder Shannon McGrew meanwhile said, “Every so often, the horror genre surprises us with a diamond in the rough, and Alexandre Aja’s #NeverLetGo is exactly that. Bleak. Brutal. Disturbing. Skip the trailers, avoid the reviews—just see it when it releases on Sept. 20th. You won’t want to miss it.”

Many reactions to the movie praised not only Berry’s performance but Daggs IV and Jenkins’ as well.

“Just watched #NEVERLETGO, and WOW, such an intense ride! @halleberry delivers a powerhouse performance, with Anthony B. Jenkins and Percy Daggs IV truly shining in this movie,” wrote Nerdtropolis’ Sean Tajipour. “The tension and fear are so real. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time.”

Slash Film’s Bill Bria also said, “I haven’t stopped thinking about #NeverLetGo in the days since I saw it, and it’s stuck with me enough that I kind of love it. Halle Berry,Percy Daggs IV and Anthony B. Jenkins are spectacular. Gorgeously shot, fantastic creature work, lots to chew on. Aja’s fractured fairy tale.”
