Grammy-winning artist Tyler, the Creator has officially signed on to join the Marty Supreme cast for A24‘s upcoming sports drama. Further details about his character remained under wraps.

Tyler, the Creator is best known for his hit songs such as “See You Again,” “New Magic Wand,” and “Yonkers.” Besides being known for his music, he is also a fashion icon who has collaborated with brands like Louis Vuitton and Converse. The upcoming movie marks the award-winning rapper’s feature acting debut after previously voicing characters in animated shows like Regular Show, Black Dynamite, The Jellies, and Big Mouth.

Who will lead the Marty Supreme cast?

Marty Supreme will be led by Oscar nominee Timothée Chalamet, who’s said to be playing champion ping pong player Marty Reisman. Last August, Oscar winner Gwyneth Paltrow also joined the project’s growing cast. Described as a “fictionalized original film,” it will be helmed by Uncut Gems co-director Josh Safdie, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Ronald Bronstein. The film is being produced by Safdie, Bronstein, Chalamet, Eli Bush, and Anthony Katagas.

Marty Reisman was a champion table tennis player, who started out as a hustler in New York City playing for bets and prize money. Throughout his career as a professional player, he won multiple awards, including five bronze medals at the World Table Tennis Championships. At the age of 82, Reisman passed away in 2012.
