Will Smith and Michael Bay may soon be working on a new film project, titled Fast and Loose, together.

Smith previously starred as Mike Lowrey in 1995’s Bad Boys and 2003’s Bad Boys II, both of which were directed by Bay. Bay then cameoed in the two other Bad Boys sequels, 2020’s Bad Boys for Life and 2024’s Bad Boys: Ride or Die, which saw Smith and Martin Lawrence reprise their respective roles.

Now, per Deadline, Bay and Smith may be working together again on the new action movie Fast and Loose for Netflix.

According to Deadline, the deal isn’t officially closed at this time; however, Bay is believed to be in “final negotiations” to direct Fast and Loose, which will star Smith. The film will reportedly be the next project for both Bay and Smith, should it come to fruition.

What else do we know about Fast and Loose?

“Fast and Loose follows a man who wakes up in Tijuana with no memories. As he pieces together his past, he learns he’s been living two lives: one as a crime kingpin and the other as an undercover CIA agent,” Deadline’s description of the movie reads.

The screenplay for Fast and Loose was written by Jon Hoeber, Erich Hoeber, Chris Bremner, and Eric Pearson. Smith is producing the movie with Kelly McCormick and David Leitch for 87North. Jon Mone, Ryan Shimazaki, and James Lassiter are also in negotiations to produce.

Robert Simons, Noah Fogelson, and Barry Waldman will also executive produce.

The news comes shortly after it was announced that Smith had dropped out of the upcoming thriller Sugar Bandits. Along with Bad Boys: Ride or Die, Smith recently starred in 2022’s Emancipation. He’s now serving as a producer on the next film in the Karate Kid franchise, which will be released in May 2025.

Bay, meanwhile, previously worked with Netflix on 6 Underground. His most recent film was 2022’s Ambulance for Universal Pictures, which starred Jake Gyllenhaal and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.
