Out of the two murderous clowns competing at the box office, one may have emerged victorious. Damien Leone’s Terrifier 3 has accumulated an impressive sum in Thursday previews and is predicted to knock Joker: Folie à Deux off the top spot.

What were the totals for the Terrifier 3 box office previews?

The slasher threequel, which reportedly cost under $5 million, has earned a total of $2.6 million in Thursday previews. While it’s still too early to assume how well the movie will fare in the coming weeks, it is predicted to earn more in its second week.

According to Deadline, Terrifier 3 may also beat the Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix-starring Joker: Folie à Deux at the box office; Joker 2 grossed $44.55 million in its first week, including $1.1 million on Thursday.

Apart from its impressive opening week, the third Terrifier feature has proven to be a critical darling as well. As of this writing, the movie boasts a 76% critics and 94% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

“Thank you all for the tremendous support and for going to the theaters. It was wild seeing so many people in the theater last night wearing sunflower glasses, terrifier shirts, drinking from terrifier cups and holding Art the clown stuffed animals,” the director wrote on Instagram. “It felt like something special ripped straight from the 80s. It’s truly an honor to be a part of this little phenomenon. You guys are the best! My team and I will keep doing our best to deliver you something special for as long as we can! Horror forever!”

Terrifier 3 stars David Howard Thornton as Art the Clown, Lauren LaVera as Sienna, Elliot Fullam as Jonathan, Margaret Anne Florence as Jess, Samantha Scaffidi as Vicky, Bryce Johnson as Greg, Chris Jericho as Burke, and more.
