Jared Leto has stirred up significant controversy following comments about his intentions to return to Russia for concerts. His comments were made during a recent performance in Belgrade. They have drawn sharp criticism from various sections, particularly from those affected by the war.

Now, many are wondering about Jared Leto’s comments on Russia. Here’s what the Suicide Squad actor said.

Jared Leto’s comment on Russia explained

Jared Leto has faced backlash after expressing his desire to perform concerts in Russia once “problems,” a reference to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, are resolved. While performing with his band Thirty Seconds to Mars, the lead singer and the Oscar-winning actor said, “We missed you guys, you know that. I tell you what, one day when all these problems are finished we’re gonna come visit you in your homeland. We’re gonna go up to St. Petersburg, over to Moscow, we’re going to drop down to Kyiv, we’re going to party and hang out with everybody the way it should be.”

Leto’s comments, captured in multiple concert videos, included questions to the crowd about their Russian identity. After a swift response from the audience, he said he “felt a little Russian energy” from the audience. However, these comments were met with outrage from Ukrainians.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry issued a statement condemning Leto’s remarks. The ministry asserted that such sentiments overlook the sacrifices being made by Ukrainians to defend their country from ongoing aggression. They added, “There can be no appeasement for Russia when it continues its attempts to solve ‘problem’ of Ukraine’s very existence.”

Notably, Leto previously showed support for Ukraine in 2022. The recent comments made during the concert have drawn criticism for appearing to downplay the seriousness of the ongoing conflict and the atrocities associated with it. Many fans took to social media to express their horror and disappointment. However, Leto has yet to react to the controversy.
