The Wolf Man MPA rating has been revealed, teasing that audiences are in for a treat once the Leigh Whannell-directed supernatural horror hits theaters on January 17, 2025.

Written and directed by Whannell (the filmmaker behind Upgrade, The Invisible Man, and Insidious Chapter 3), Wolf Man is an upcoming reboot of the iconic 1941 horror movie directed by George Waggner. The reboot will revolve around a family terrorized by a deadly predator.

What is Wolf Man’s MPA Rating?

A highly anticipated reboot, Wolf Man has been Rated R for “bloody violent content and grisly images” as well as “some language.” The movie was originally slated for theatrical release on October 15 of this year but was later pushed to January 17, 2025.

The film stars Christopher Abbott (Poor Things, It Comes at Night) as Blake, Julia Garner (Apartment 7A, Inventing Anna) as Charlotte, Matilda Firth (Coma, Subservience) as Ginger, and Sam Jaeger (Devil in Ohio, Why Women Kill), among others.

Ryan Gosling was initially attached for the lead role but later exited the project due to schedule conflicts. While Gosling is no longer starring in The Wolf Man reboot, he served as the film’s executive producer alongside Ken Kao, Bea Sequeira, Mel Turner, and Whannell.

The official synopsis reads: “The film follows Blake, a San Francisco husband and father, who inherits his remote childhood home in rural Oregon after his own father vanishes and is presumed dead. With his marriage to his high-powered wife, Charlotte, fraying, Blake persuades Charlotte to take a break from the city and visit the property with their young daughter, Ginger. But as the family approaches the farmhouse in the dead of night, they’re attacked by an unseen animal and, in a desperate escape, barricade themselves inside the home as the creature prowls the perimeter. As the night stretches on, however, Blake begins to behave strangely, transforming into something unrecognizable, and Charlotte will be forced to decide whether the terror within their house is more lethal than the danger without.”

Wolf Man is produced by Jason Blum.
