The first official The Strangers: Chapter 2 trailer is here, previewing the next entry in Renny Harlin‘s trilogy of horror films.

What happens in The Strangers: Chapter 2 trailer?

The trailer seems to pick things up immediately after the first movie ends, with Maya Lucas (played by Madelaine Petsch) fearfully breaking out of the hospital she was in following the events of the first film. She is picked up by a group traveling in a truck, but quickly begins to wonder if those who picked her up are the titular “strangers” from the first movie.

Plot details for The Strangers: Chapter 2 remain under wraps at this time. Directed by Renny Harlin, the film is being released in late 2024, while The Strangers: Chapter 3 is expected to arrive in early 2025.

The first film in the new trilogy of Strangers movies, The Strangers: Chapter 1, was released in United States theaters in May. Despite receiving mostly negative reviews from critics and fans, it still made approximately $35.4 million at the global box office off an estimated $8.5 million budget.

“After their car breaks down in an eerie small town, a young couple are forced to spend the night in a remote cabin,” the official synopsis reads. “Panic ensues as they are terrorized by three masked strangers who strike with no mercy and seemingly no motive in THE STRANGERS ― CHAPTER 1, the chilling first entry of this upcoming horror feature film series.”

Directed by Harlin, the script for The Strangers: Chapter 1 was written by Alan R. Cohen and Alan Freedland. Along with Petsch, it stars Froy Gutierrez as Ryan, Rachel Shenton as Debbie, Gabriel Basso as Gregory, Ema Horvath as Shelly, Richard Brake as Sheriff Rotter, Ella Bruccoleri as Jasmine, Matúš Lajčák as Scarecrow, Olivia Kreutzova as Dollface, and Letizia Fabbri as Pin-Up Girl.
