Emmy-nominated actor Lee Pace (Guardians of the Galaxy, Foundation) has been tapped to join The Running Man cast for Paramount Pictures’ upcoming dystopian thriller remake based on Stephen King’s 1982 novel of the same name. The film is slated to arrive in theaters on Nov. 21.

Pace is expected to portray one of the film’s antagonists alongside Avengers: Endgame star Josh Brolin, whose casting was just revealed yesterday. Pace will be playing a brutal chief hunter who has been tasked to track down the main character. This marks the Pushing Daisies star’s first movie project after last starring in the 2022 dark comedy horror Bodies Bodies Bodies.

Who is leading The Running Man cast?

The Running Man remake will be led by Anyone But You star Glen Powell, whose character will participate in a real-life survival reality program created by the government. In the game, a contestant must survive 30 days to win the prize of $1 billion while being hunted down by a team of elite hitmen. Additional cast members include Katy O’Brian, Karl Glusman, and Daniel Exra.

The film will be directed by Edgar Wright, who co-wrote the screenplay with Michael Bacall. It will be produced by Wright, Simon Kinberg, and Nira Park. King’s novel was first adapted as a movie in 1987, which starred Arnold Schwarzenegger.

“The story centers around one desperate man, needing money for his sick daughter, who joins the most popular show, The Running Man, in which teams of killers hunt down contestants,” reads the synopsis (via The Hollywood Reporter). “The longer a contestant survives, the more money that person makes. But as the game show’s producers and killers will find out, this desperate man will break all the rules and expose the show’s dark secrets.”
