The Running Man cast continues to grow, with The Hollywood Reporter noting that William H. Macy has joined the all-star ensemble cast of Edgar Wright’s adaptation of the Stephen King classic.

The Emmy winner and Academy Award-nominated actor is set to play the role of a man who assists Ben Richards (played by Glen Powell) while he is on the run. Macy is best known for his major roles in a variety of high-profile films and television series, including Boogie Nights, Air Force One, Magnolia, Shameless, ER, and, most recently, 2024’s Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.

Who else is in The Running Man cast?

The Running Man remake will be led by Anyone But You star Glen Powell, whose character will participate in a real-life survival reality program created by the government. In the game, a contestant must survive 30 days to win the prize of $1 billion while being hunted down by a team of elite hitmen.

Additional cast members include Katy O’Brian, Lee Pace, Michael Cera, Emilia Jones, Karl Glusman, and Daniel Exra.

King’s novel takes place in a dystopian America in 2025. The story revolves around a man named Ben Richards who competes in a deadly reality show to win enough money to help heal his daughter. Powell is playing Richards, while Brolin is believed to be playing the person behind the reality show.

The script for the movie was co-written by Wright — known for making movies such as 2004’s Shaun of the Dead, 2010’s Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, 2017’s Baby Driver, and more — and Michael Bacall. Wright produces the movie alongside Nira Park and Simon Kinberg.

The Running Man is set to be released in United States theaters on November 21, 2025.
