COMO, Texas — The Como-Pickton Lady Eagles have announced their volleyball schedule for the 2024 season. The Lady Eagles are entering their third season under Head Coach Celeste Garcia, and will also be aiming for their third consecutive playoff appearance.

Last season, the Lady Eagles enjoyed one of their best seasons to date, going 28-13 overall and finishing as Co-district champions, alongside North Hopkins. In the playoffs, they defeated the Sam Rayburn Lady Rebels in three sets (25-12, 25-23, 25-13) in the Bi-District round, before losing in a five-set heartbreaker to the Nocona Lady Indians in the Area round (17-25, 2725, 17-25, 25-23, 7-15).

This season, the Lady Eagles will play a mostly home schedule, with 12 home games and nine road games, after playing a mostly road schedule last season. They will also compete in three tournaments.

To start the season, the Lady Eagles will compete in scrimmages at Mineola Aug. 9. The next day, Aug. 10, they will partake in a scrimmage against Mount Pleasant.

For their season opener, the Lady Eagles welcome the Sulphur Bluff Lady Bears to Como-Pickton High School Aug. 13. Soon after, the Lady Eagles will compete in the Chisum Tournament Aug. 15 and 17. In the middle of the tournament, the Lady Eagles will travel to Avery for a non-district contest against the Avery Lady Bulldogs Aug. 16.

The second week of the season will begin with the Lady Eagles hosting the Mount Vernon Lady Tigers Aug. 20. From there, the Lady Eagles compete in the Mount Vernon Tournament Aug. 22 and 24. In between the tournament dates, the Lady Eagles will host the Wolfe City Lady Wolves Aug. 23.

The final week of August kicks off with the Lady Eagles welcoming the Trenton Lady Tigers to Como-Pickton High School Aug. 27. This week will also see the Lady Eagles compete in the Commerce Tournament Aug. 29 and 31, which will be their final tournament of the season. They will also have a road game against the Detroit Lady Eagles Aug. 30.

To kick off the month of September, the Lady Eagles will have a pair of home games: hosting the Pittsburg Lady Pirates Sept. 3 and then the Sam Rayburn Lady Rebels Sept. 6.

The second week of September also features two games. The Lady Eagles begin that week with a road game against the Chapel Hill Lady Devils Sept. 10. To conclude the week, the Lady Eagles welcome the Miller Grove Lady Hornets to Como-Pickton High School Sept. 13.

The following week, the Lady Eagles travel to Bogota to take on the Rivercrest Lady Rebels Sept. 17, and also host the Commerce Lady Tigers Sept. 20 during homecoming.

The final week of September will see the Lady Eagles conclude non-district play on the road against the Sulphur Springs Lady Wildcats Sept. 24. Later that week, the Lady Eagles begin district play by traveling to Alba to take on the Alba-Golden Lady Panthers Sept. 27.

To begin October, the Lady Eagles continue district play with a road game against the Yantis Lady Owls Oct. 1, and a home game against the North Hopkins Lady Panthers Oct. 4.

The second week of October features two home games for the Lady Eagles: first hosting the Christian Homeschool Athletic Association of Mount Pleasant (CHAAMP) Lady Hawks for a non-district game Oct. 8, and then wrapping up the first half of district play Oct. 11 at home against the Fruitvale Lady Bobcats.

The following week, the Lady Eagles begin the second half of district with home games against Alba- Golden Oct. 15 (which will be Senior Night) and Yantis Oct. 18 (which will be pink out) The Lady Eagles will conclude the regular season with road games against North Hopkins Oct. 22 and Fruitvale Oct. 29.

The Lady Eagles will look to continue their strong play over the past two seasons. They will also look to compete for another district championship and make a deep playoff run.
