State temporarily closes Lake George Million Dollar Beach following storm
The New York Department of Environmental Conservation announced on Wednesday that Lake George Beach, known as Million Dollar Beach, will be temporarily closed to assure the health and safety of bathers. Heavy rains through Lake George on Tuesday resulted in elevated levels of the bacteria E. coli found in water sampling at the beach. The beach will remain closed until testing results show improved water quality.

Police: Saratoga Springs woman crashed car while drunk. A Saratoga Springs woman is accused of driving drunk, crashing her car and fleeing into a nearby home. The crash happened just after midnight Wednesday morning in the area of Northern Pines Road in Wilton. Shana M. Firenze, 39, hit another car and then ran into a nearby house, State Police said. Firenze did not know the homeowner.
