Kalamazoo Growlers’ home field underwater after latest torrential downpour
KALAMAZOO, MI – The home of the Kalamazoo Growlers looks more like a lake than a baseball field currently. And it happened overnight. After severe weather dumped torrential rainfall on Southwest Michigan into the early hours of Tuesday, Homer Stryker Field has been left completely submerged and forces the Growlers to postpone their three-game series against the Kokomo Jackrabbits.

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Heavy rain slammed into Kalamazoo for a second night, causing flooding and debris to close a multitude of roads. Thunderstorms progressed through West Michigan from west to east, arriving at the lakeshore around 9 p.m. Kalamazoo was one of the counties under the threat of a tornado, but only received a downpour instead.
Lane closure on Shaver Road starts July 17 for resurfacing, milling project in Portage
PORTAGE, Mich. — The City of Portage announced a lane closure will go into effect beginning Wednesday morning at 8 a.m. for the milling and resurfacing of Shaver Road. The northbound lane of Shaver Road from Captiva Island to Vanderbilt Avenue will be closed and a detour will be put in place, officials said.
