A man accused of killing two teenagers from Concord will not face the death penalty, a prosecutor said Tuesday.

Marquan Ladrien Marshall, 20, is charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of Jaylan Marray Jackson and Jayden Dae'shun Munson, who were killed Dec. 14 after meeting with others near the intersection of Dodge Street and Piedmont Avenue in Mount Holly to sell marijuana, according to search warrants documents prepared by Sgt. J.C. Arthurs. Marshall and Zabreon Isaiah Wallace, 18, of Mount Holly, are accused of opening fire when Jackson and Munson arrived, killing both of them, according to search warrants.

On Tuesday, Marshall appeared before Judge David Phillips. During a brief hearing, prosecutor Megan Rhoden said that the case will not be capital. A bond hearing will be held at a later date.
