CONCORD, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Nearly two-dozen people are losing their jobs locally, and hundreds statewide after the company behind the Salt Life beachwear brand shutters its facilities.

According to the N.C. Department of Commerce, Delta Apparel Inc. is closing manufacturing plants in Cabarrus, Cumberland and Robeson counties, effective Aug. 29. There are 22 jobs being eliminated at the Concord location on Corporate Drive.

On June 30, the Georgia-based company announced it filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and has begun to delist from the New York Stock Exchange.

Delta is known for the once-popular Salt Life and Soffe brands.
