Adam Montgomery, convicted of killing daughter, transferred out of New Hampshire prison

Adam Montgomery had been in a New Hampshire facility for more than a year before his reported transfer to another facility in Virginia.

Adam Montgomery, the man convicted of fatally beating his 5-year-old daughter Harmony Montgomery in 2019, has been moved from a facility in New Hampshire to another prison out of state.

According to the New Hampshire Department of Corrections’s inmate search online, Montgomery is currently in a “Non-NHDOC Facility.” He was previously residing in New Hampshire State Prison for Men in Concord, WMUR reported.

New Hampshire DOC confirmed that Montgomery was moved “outside of the NHDOC system” but did not say why or where.

“We are unable to provide any additional information on his location or the reasons for his transfer,” the department said.

WMUR reported that Montgomery was moved to a facility in Virginia, but he did not appear in their inmate search system Monday evening. A spokesperson for the Virginia Department of Corrections did not return a request for comment.

Montgomery, 34, was sentenced to 56 years in prison on murder and other charges related to the death of Harmony, who investigators believe was killed almost two years before she was reported missing in 2021.

Montgomery’s sentence was added to the 32 1/2-year sentence from unrelated gun charges he was already serving. He began that sentence last year at the New Hampshire State Prison for Men in Concord until he was transferred out of the state.

Harmony’s body, thought to be in the salt marshes north of Boston, has not been found. Her mother Crystal Sorey told reporters last month that Montgomery will most likely never say where he hid her body. She plans to search the North Shore with volunteers monthly.
