Dr. Amy Marcoullier is the New Principal of Brookside Elementary School

The Oak Park Unified School District Board of Education has approved the appointment of Dr. Amy Marcoullier as the new principal of Brookside Elementary School. Dr. Marcoullier's selection was confirmed on June 18, 2024, and she will officially assume her role on July 1, 2024.
Dr. Marcoullier holds an impressive array of academic qualifications, including a Bachelor's degree in Advertising and Spanish from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, a Master of Arts in Teaching and Bilingual Authorization in Spanish from the University of California, Irvine, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Southern California. Her doctoral dissertation focused on leveraging technology to drive high academic achievement and support instruction for all students.
With two decades of experience in education, Dr. Marcoullier has spent nine years teaching and eleven years in various leadership positions. Most recently, she served for seven years with the La Cañada Unified School District, where she acquired elementary and secondary administrative experience as both Assistant Principal and Principal. Additionally, she has been an instructional leader for PUC Charter Schools and has taught as a part-time lecturer in USC's Master of Arts in Teaching program. Her teaching tenure includes nine years as an eighth-grade Spanish teacher and GATE instructor for multiple subjects such as English Language Arts, social science, and science.
At Palm Crest Elementary, a California Distinguished School and National Blue Ribbon Exemplary High Performing School, Dr. Marcoullier developed and implemented a Responsive Teaching Plan to address learning loss, expanded social-emotional learning opportunities, and established a school-wide Kindness Week. As a High School Assistant Principal, she supervised the special education department, introduced a full inclusion model, and engaged in district-wide Universal Design for Learning professional development training. In her most recent role as Administrator on Special Assignment, she successfully led the district-wide implementation of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports.
Dr. Marcoullier expressed her enthusiasm for her new role, stating, "I have a deep-rooted passion for instruction and a strong belief that education possesses the power to provide possibilities for all. I am a collaborative leader committed to fostering an environment where all children have the opportunity to thrive and feel valued, respected, and empowered to succeed as life-long learners and responsible citizens. I'm honored and excited to work with the students, staff, and families of Brookside Elementary School."
