Online Auction of Confiscated Fishing Vessel Nets $96,000 for Purchase of New Patrol Boat
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife recently sold a fishing boat that was previously seized from Chase Cominsky, a 37-year-old resident of Hermitage, Pennsylvania. Underwater robotics: Students learn about defense manufacturing at camp
MANSFIELD — About a dozen middle schoolers gained skills and learned about careers in defense manufacturing at the “Building Giants” Submarine Manufacturing Camp. The two-week camp was the first of its kind sponsored by Nuts, Bolts & Thingamajigs and BlueForge Alliance. Mansfield City Schools hosted the camp for rising 7th-9th graders.
Man taken into custody after assault on Gnadenhutten police chief
GNADENHUTTEN ‒ Police Chief Dennis Moody suffered a broken nose after he was involved in a scuffle Tuesday at Gnadenhutten's boat ramp on the Tuscarawas River. Moody was at home at around 4:30 p.m. when he got a call about a fight between juveniles at the intersection of Tuscarawas Avenue and Cherry Street. Man hospitalized after Merriman Valley shooting early Friday
A 35-year-old man was hospitalized Friday morning after being found with a gunshot wound in Merriman Valley, according to Akron police. Officers responded to reports of a shooting at about midnight in the 1800 block of Merriman Road. Upon arrival, police found the man with gunshot wound to the chest. He was subsequently transported to Cleveland Clinic Akron General, where he is currently listed in critical condition. The investigation into the incident is ongoing. New Ohio law requires schools to honor religious beliefs, free speech
(The Center Square) – Ohio school districts must adopt a policy to accommodate students' sincerely held religious beliefs. The new law, signed Friday by Gov. Mike DeWine, was introduced more than a year ago. Ohio unemployment rate continues to rise
(The Center Square) – Ohio’s unemployment rate continues to rise, and revised figures show jobs are leaving the state. Statistics from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services showed the state’s unemployment rate rose to 4.4% in June from 4.2% in May, while the labor force participation rate increased to 62.1% from 61.9% the same month.
