Ohio gets millions from the feds to plug abandoned oil, natural gas wells
Ohio is getting another chunk of money from the Biden administration to clean up and plug abandoned oil and natural gas wells that plague the state's countryside. The Interior Department has awarded the state $57.25 million from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the federal law passed in 2021 that commits $1.2 trillion to fix roads and bridges, expand internet access, provide access to clean water, improve ports, invest in public transportation and other purposes. The law provides $16 billion to address what the Biden administration calls legacy pollution by reclaiming abandoned coal mines and plugging orphaned wells.

Summit County Fair opens this week; kids under 15 get in free 1 day
TALLMADGE, Ohio – The Summit County Fair is scheduled for July 23-28 at the fairgrounds in Tallmadge, located at 229 E. Howe Road. A family tradition since 1850, the fair offers 4-H and open-class exhibits in livestock, horticulture, floraculture, domestic arts, culinary arts and fine arts. Pedestrian Struck on I-77, New Philadelphia Patrol Investigating
The State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal incident on I-77 south. The accident occurred near bolivar Sunday morning involving a pedestrian who was struck and killed. New Philadelphia post trooper Roy Beach says the victim, 34-year-old Jonathan Mandala of Akron, apparently walked onto the highway from the right side of the lanes and was hit by a flatbed truck just before 10 a.m.
