Colstrip power plant offline during heat wave
A large source of energy generation for Montana’s biggest utility has gone offline while much of the state experiences extreme heat. The coal-fired power plant in Colstrip went offline Tuesday afternoon. NorthWestern Energy spokesperson Jo Dee Black confirmed the shutdown but did not give details on the cause. Black told MTPR NorthWestern hopes to have the facility up and running in the next few days. This loss of Montana-based energy means the utility company will have to purchase energy from the open market to meet demands.

Search for Rickisha Bear still ongoing.
(Rocky Boy) The search for Rickisha Bear, an indigenous woman who live on the Rocky Boy reservation and who’s been missing since February of this year, is still on going. New Media Broadcasters spoke with Emma Jane, a close friend of Bear and one of the administrators of the “Search for Rickisha Bear” Facebook page, who said that their recent celebration of Rickisha’s birthday in Great Falls’ Gibson Park was not a memorial.
Something for everyone at forty-fifth annual Lewis and Clark Festival
Cut Bank is gearing up to celebrate its forty-fifth annual Lewis and Clark Festival, featuring great food, friendly competition, and entertainment for the whole family. The festival will take place from Thursday, July 25 through Sunday, July 28, kicking off with the Guns and Hoses softball game on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the sports complex where law enforcement and firemen will battle it out on the field for bragging rights for a year.
Hawaii denies Missoula Zootown trip to Little League Senior Softball World Series
MISSOULA — Missoula Zootown manager Tim Gray read his players' names off as they were awarded second-place medals Tuesday night. The team had just suffered a 10-2 defeat at the hands of Hawaii in the Little League Senior Softball West Region final at the Dale Clawson Complex. That's the same team that eliminated Zootown in last year’s final.
Some Great Falls residents under Water Boil Advisory
This morning, the city of Great Falls had a water main break in the Skyline neighborhood which resulted in some disruption of the water service for residents. Now, a portion of Great Falls is under a boiled water advisory since this break could have contaminated the water supply:

In the Kalispell Glacier football team’s 17 years as a program, no player has started all four seasons of his career, according to Glacier head coach Grady Bennett.
