The wonderfully weird, esoteric filmmaker and artist John Waters is gearing up for his annual “A John Waters Christmas” comedy tour. To preview the run, he’s announced a 7-inch vinyl that boasts his take on The Singing Dogs’ “Jingle Bells,” which is set to arrive physically and digitally on November 8th.

Produced by the Grammy-winning Ian Brennan, the press release describes Waters’ “Jingle Bells” cover as a “howling turn that should delight (and possibly dismay) dog owners everywhere.” Opposite the cover will be “It’s a Punk Rock Christmas,” which is reportedly a spoken word track about “the punk rock spirit during the anxiety-provoking season.” Pre order it via Sub Pop records here .

“In producing John’s annual Christmas tour for over twenty years, it seemed almost negligent that he didn’t have a Christmas record,” Brennan stated. “Everyone from U2 to Justin Bieber to William Shatner to Bob Dylan does, and John’s wit couldn’t be a more fitting cheer for the annual holiday music canon.”

The underground icon’s “A John Waters Christmas” tour kicks off on December 1st in Santa Cruz, California. He’ll then hit cities like Seattle, New York, and Philadelphia before wrapping up on December 19th in Baltimore. See the full tour itinerary below, and pick up tickets here .
