Jane’s Addiction have canceled the remainder of their North American tour following an onstage fight between bandmates that saw frontman Perry Farrell punch guitarist Dave Navarro in Boston on Friday night (September 13th).

“The band have made the difficult decision to take some time away as a group. As such they will be cancelling the remainder of the tour,” read a statement posted to Jane’s Addiction’s social media channels on Monday, September 16th.

Navarro and fellow Jane’s Addiction bandmates Eric Avery and Stephen Perkins separately posted a joint statement to their individual social media accounts in which they said: “Due to a continuing pattern of behavior and the mental health difficulties of our singer Perry Farrell, we have come to the conclusion that we have no choice but to discontinue the current US tour.”

“Our concern for his personal health and safety as well as our own has left us no alternative. We hope that he will find the help he needs,” Navarro, Avery, and Perkins’ statement continued. “We deeply regret that we are not able to come through for all our fans who have already bought tickets. We can see no solution that would either ensure a safe environment on stage or reliably allow us to deliver a great performance on a nightly basis. Our hearts are broken.”

Update: Farrell has issued his own statement in which he apologized to his bandmates and “full accountability” for his actions. “This weekend has been incredibly difficult and after having the time and space to reflect, it is only right that I apologize to my bandmates, especially Dave Navarro, fans, family and friends for my actions during Friday’s show,” Farrell said. “Unfortunately, my breaking point resulted in inexcusable behavior, and I take full accountability for how I chose to handle the situation.”

As previously reported, Farrell shoved and punched Navarro while the band was performing “Ocean Size” during the show at Boston’s Leader Bank Pavilion. The singer was separated from the guitarist by the band’s crew members and bassist Avery, who then appeared to land a few punches on Farrell.

Perry’s wife Etty Lau Farrell posted a firsthand account of what happened, alleging that the singer “lost it” after repeated sound issues had plagued the tour. Other attendees noted that Perry was drinking from a large bottle of wine the entire show. Etty also called out Avery for allegedly landing some “cheap shots” on Perry right after separating him from Navarro.

Initially, the band only canceled the next scheduled show, a Sunday night concert in Bridgeport, Connecticut. But now, the entire run has been nixed. The outing, which marked the band’s first featuring its classic lineup in 14 years, was to run through the middle of October. It featured Jane’s Addiction touring with Love and Rockets.

See Jane’s Addiction’s statements below, followed by video footage of the onstage altercation.
