Michael Shannon and Jason Narducy love R.E.M. more than most, and they are heading back on tour next year to celebrate 40 years of Fables of the Reconstruction by playing the album in full.

The US run follows the actor and guitarist’s February 2024 tour celebrating 40 years of R.E.M.’s Murmur . That trek concluded with a major performance in R.E.M.’s hometown of Athens, Georgia, where Shannon and Narducy were joined by the band’s original lineup for their first on-stage reunion in 17 years . Now, Shannon and Narducy are getting their own band back together to play the 1985 album Fables of the Reconstruction as well as a handful of other R.E.M. favorites.

The tour kicks off in Pioneertown, California on February 14th and continues with dates in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Indianapolis, Athens, Washington D.C., Boston, Brooklyn, and more. The tour concludes on March 14th at Chicago’s Metro, where Shannon and Narducy played their first R.E.M. cover show of Murmur back in 2023. See the full list of tour dates below.

Tickets for Michael Shannon and Jason Narducy’s 2025 Fables of the Reconstruction US tour will go on-sale on Friday, September 27th at 10:00 a.m. local time via the duo’s website .

“I’m happy this one is twice as long. The last one was too short,” says Shannon of the new tour. “This music is beyond comprehension and I cherish every chance I get to deliver it, even second generation. R.E.M. means the world to me. And this band led by Jason is stone cold ridiculous. Even if I never walked onstage, you would get a hell of a show.”

Narducy continued, saying in a statement, “After Michael and I took the band on the road playing Murmur , we discussed possibly trying something again in 2025. It will be the 40th anniversary of Fables of the Reconstruction so we will open with that album, in sequence. Then we will dig deep into the R.E.M. catalog to round out the performance. Each show will have unique setlists. We love celebrating the music of this great band.”

R.E.M. didn’t just show up for Shannon and Narducy’s Athens show earlier this year — they performed live for the first time in 15 years at the Songwriters Hall of Fame induction ceremony, and even gave their first television interview in 30 years this summer.
