Goose fans who attended one of the jam band’s shows at Chicago’s The Salt Shed last month have been warned of potential exposure to rabid bats.

The Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) issued a public warning on Friday (October 4th) stating a “possible exposure” may have occurred during Goose’s outdoor concert on September 12th. Some fans have reported seeing a bat flying near the lighting rig .

“If you attended the concert and were bitten or scratched by a bat, or if you had direct contact with a bat, contact a healthcare provider as soon as possible to discuss rabies post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP),” the CDPH’s statement reads. “Rabies post-exposure prophylaxis consists of a dose of human rabies immune globulin and four doses of vaccine, which is highly effective in preventing rabies.”

According to a statement shared with the Chicago Sun-Times , the Salt Shed has not seen any reports of attendees infected with rabies.

“The Salt Shed is monitoring the situation closely,” a spokesperson said. “The health and safety of our guests is, as ever, our top priority. We have medical personnel on site for every event, and to date have received no reports from attendees of any bat sightings or infections.”

Earlier this year, The Pretty Reckless singer Taylor Momsen was bitten by a bat onstage while performing in Seville, Spain, and had to undergo a series of rabies shots.

Goose fans may want to be on the lookout for bats when their 2024 tour continues later this month. Running through New Year’s Eve, the trek includes a pair of Hurricane Helene benefit shows . See the full schedule below, and get tickets here .
