The notoriously high-producing band has been moving at a slightly less breakneck pace this year; Flight b741 arrives as the follow-up to 2023’s The Silver Cord , which was the group’s third project of the same year. As the 26th studio album in the band’s discography, this LP features more genre-blending from the Aussie rockers — our own Paolo Ragusa characterized “Hog Calling Contest” as “a full acid-laced, country-fried hoedown, quick on its feet and a hell of a lot of fun.”
As the group’s first release on their recently launched label, p(doom) records, the members of King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard viewed Flight b741 as an opportunity to swap “the big picture ambition for the intimacy of six good friends enjoying each other’s company and collaborating on perhaps the warmest, most bonhomie-laden set” to date.
“The concept this time is no concept,” a statement reads.
The band is gearing up for a North American tour, which kicks off next week in Washington, DC. Running through November, this leg of the trek will take them to Detroit, Las Vegas, Atlanta, Miami, and many more cities — grab tickets and look for deals here .
